Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Preferred Experience: 3-4 years
• Trauma Level: Level 1 trauma and Neuro experience required
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • Circulate skills required
• Preferred Certifications: ACLS preferred but not required for OR
• Specialty Notes:

  • Experience in Level 1 Trauma Center required
  • Hospital focus on Orthopedics, Spine, and Neuro cases
  • No Cardiac or Transplant cases on this unit
• Medication System: Pyxis

Licensure

• Pending License: Not accepted
• Compact License: Candidates using a compact license must apply for Washington state license and/or complete 6-hour suicide prevention training and submit demographic data through WA Board of Nursing

Background Checks & Compliance

Competency & Testing Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
• Color Blind Testing required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for certain units (check if applicable)
• Competency Exam required
• Conscious Sedation Competency Exam required if working in GI Lab/Endoscopy (not typical for OR)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by facility but by agency)
• Mask Fit Test within 12 months (specific mask types required)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days; annual TB questionnaire required
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required or declination on file
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination required
• Drug Testing: Required within past 12 months (agency requirement)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes

Facility Specific Documents & Requirements

• Badge photo required (professional quality, waist up, no hats, simple background)
• Must sign facility-specific job description, license acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history form, policies and procedures acknowledgment, security info form, personal data form, code of conduct acknowledgment
• Completion of orientation modules and testing required prior to start
• Annual stroke education required for RNs working in Neuro ICU, ED, Rehab, and related units
• Background packet including personal data form, national background check form, and other documents required before start

Additional Notes

• Return to work restrictions: No more than 6 days worked consecutively
• Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per every 2-week pay period
• Unit is a 25-bed Level 1 Trauma Center
• Hospital is heavy in Orthopedics, Spine, and Neuro cases; no cardiac or transplant cases on this unit
