Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Overview

  • Assignment may include being part of an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or serve on relief teams.
  • High acuity unit caring for patients with COVID-19, requiring pronation therapy and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) experience.
  • Responsibilities include vasopressor titrations and use of specialized equipment such as CRRT dialysis.
  • Float requirement within the facility.
  • EPIC electronic health record experience is required/preferred.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted; renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted; renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • Epic experience is mandatory.

Preferred (not required):

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

  • License verification: Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required; renewal must be completed if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant screenings not accepted.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for select units)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
    • Varicella (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
  • TB testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 12 months; chest x-ray and symptom-free questionnaire required for positive results.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required; must include 7 years employment history with explanations for gaps.

Additional Notes

  • No block scheduling requests allowed.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments and potential extended onsite presence during emergency events.
  • CPI certification is required for some units but not ICU.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable working in high acuity, critical care environments with COVID patients and specialized therapies, who have strong EPIC system skills and meet comprehensive compliance requirements.
