Registered Nurse (Operating Room) - Travel/Contract
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts including 2x8, 2x12, or 4x10 hour shifts; weekends included (flexibility required)
- Shift Times: Multiple start/end times ranging from early morning to late night
- Caseload: 60-70 cases
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, flexibility expected (Sunday night not considered weekend shift)
- On-call: No
- Floating: No floating within scope
- Block Scheduling: Not available; must be flexible for unit needs
- Locals Accepted: Yes
Experience & Certifications
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years in Level 1 Trauma and Neuro; 3-4 years preferred
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Circulate skills required
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma Center required
- Preferred Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred for OR
- Unit Focus: Heavy in Orthopedics, Spine, and Neuro; no Cardiac or Transplant cases
- Medication System: Pyxis

Licensing & Compliance
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Compact License: Candidates must apply for WA license and/or complete 6-hour suicide prevention training with WA BON demographic submission
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 6 days
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per every 2-week pay period
Background Checks & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start
- Must run checks on current and former legal names and known aliases
- Education verification required for Med Lab Techs (not applicable here)
- Sex offender search required
- WA WATCH search required
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required (e.g., license acknowledgment, equipment safety, health history, policies and procedures, security info, personal data form)
- Badge photo required (professional quality)
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
- Color blind testing required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (not specifically OR)
- Other competency exams as applicable
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by Aya)
- Mask fit test within 12 months (specific mask models required)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days; annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination required or declination on file
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination required
- Varicella immunity or vaccination required or declination on file
- Drug screening within past 12 months (required by Aya, not by facility)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking
- Meningococcal vaccine required for Microbiology lab techs (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete facility orientation modules prior to start
- Annual stroke education required for RNs working in Neuro ICU, ED, Rehab, and related units (not specifically OR)
- 2 professional references required
- Performance evaluations may be completed by UW managers after assignment
This position is ideal for RNs with trauma and neuro experience seeking a flexible travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with rotating shifts and weekend work.
