Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Care for pre/post patients undergoing cardiac procedures including cardiology & cardiac diagnoses.
- Special procedures involved: LHC, RHC, TAVR, ablations, TEE, cardioversion, loop recorders, pacemakers, vascular procedures.
- Use of special equipment such as vein finder and bladder scanner.
- Shifts are 10 hours, either 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM, depending on experience.
- Preferred candidates have PACU or Pre/Post Op experience.
- Unit may assign you to an "Emergency Team" during emergency events, requiring you to stay until the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Travel Experience: Unit will not accept first-time travelers (prior travel experience required).
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
- NIHSS
- Uniform: Scrubs in royal blue or white.
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Cardiology patients undergoing various cardiac procedures.
- Focus on pre/post operative care related to cardiac interventions.
Compliance & Documentation
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy required).
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
- Education verification of highest level required.
- Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
- License verification: Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required upon submission and maintained throughout assignment.
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (as applicable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
- Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
- Skills checklist and employment application required, including 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable with potential emergency team assignments during events such as hurricanes.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit.
- Competency exams specific to specialty required annually.
- Photo for badge must be a recent, full-color passport-style photo without obstructions or filters.
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac nurses with prior travel assignments who are flexible and able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
