Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty

• Work Setting: Urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department (ED)
• Preferred Experience: Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating Requirement: Yes
• Charting System: Epic
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 7 days

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for ER clinical candidates

Certifications Preferred:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI can possibly be completed onsite twice per month

Licensure & Verification

• Must have valid RN license for Illinois
• Primary source license verification required within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of assignment start

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, and education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required (ADN or BSN minimum)
• Fingerprinting required only if profession does not require Illinois state license (must be done in Illinois)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (3M 1860, 1870+, or 9205+ masks accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination (within 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire if positive TB test
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 flu season (exemptions require facility approval)

Documentation & Onboarding

• Current resume with last 7 years of employment, explaining any gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references required
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Employment verification for last 7 years
• Facility orientation modules (~2 hours) required before start
• Passport-style photo for badge required

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• Religious and medical exemption forms available for COVID and influenza vaccines (approval may take up to 1 week)
• Must complete all required documentation and health screenings within specified timeframes to avoid delays
