Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Facility: Multiple possible locations including Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, or Viera (floating required)
  • No on-call required
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (schedule TBD by unit)
  • Float Requirement: Yes, traveler will have a home base but may float to other units or locations
  • Ratios: 1:2-3 patient ratio
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • EPIC experience required

Experience & Licensure

  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Licensure: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission
  • Pending licenses are NOT accepted

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider only, RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider only, RQI accepted
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Must be renewed annually
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM for Labor & Delivery)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31), with medical or religious exemptions only

Special Requirements

  • 2 professional references from authority figures (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the last 12 months required
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation)

  • Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 90 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check run monthly
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
  • Education verification required, with some institutions disqualified (specific list available)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (QGold or 2 negative PPDs accepted; Tspot NOT accepted)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Titers required within 5 years for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge (white background, no filters)
  • Auto insurance required for Home Health roles
  • Radiation badge monitoring form required for Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, OR, Pain Clinic staff
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including Job Description Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Agreement, iCARE Values, and Badge Form
