Description

Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (Travel/Contract)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 18 weeks


Job Details

  • Call Requirements:
    • 1 day of call per week
    • 1 weekend call approximately every 4 weeks (subject to change)
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to Main OR as needed
  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in specified specialties including Surgical Services if applicable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
  • Other Certifications: May be required depending on specialty and unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) – verify based on clinical track
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs and LVNs)
    • Color Blind Testing (all candidates)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (if applicable)
    • General Competency Exam (for Nursing and Allied)

Licensure & Verification

  • State License: Must be valid for Georgia (required for CRTs & RRTs)
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
  • Tech Certification Verification: National certification verification if applicable

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification and various criminal checks
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical Exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start (not required by client)
  • Immunizations & Health Screenings:
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (two negative TB tests required for privileging specialties)
    • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed to pend if not yet eligible
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed to pend if not yet eligible
    • Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination (declination required if titer negative)
    • Flu Vaccine or Declination (required during flu season)
  • Additional Health Documents: May be required for privileging specialties (e.g., Tdap, vaccine declination forms)

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency (not required by client)
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Notes

  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • Privileging specialties have additional compliance and documentation requirements
