Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland

Job Details

• Patient Ratios:

  • Adults: 1:5
  • Pediatrics: 1:4
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical-Surgical with pediatric experience)
• Pediatric Experience: Required
• First-time Travelers: Not accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
• On-call: Not required
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes, from the same metropolitan area
• Pending License: Accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Special Requirements:

  • Experience in both adult and pediatric medical-surgical nursing
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Licensure

• Maryland RN license or Compact RN license with proof of state residency (driver’s license must match compact license state)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check (including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS level 3) within one year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually
• Fingerprinting (Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI) required for school placements only; must be completed in Maryland
• NURSYS verification as applicable

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types preferred)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
• Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or True 2-Step PPD) within 1 year; if positive, chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; negative titers require 2 boosters 28 days apart (can start pending 2nd booster)
• Hepatitis B: Proof of positive titer, vaccination, or declination
• Flu vaccine required annually; no declinations or exemptions accepted
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references
• Performance evaluation if worked with the system over 1 year
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Core competency testing or signed HIPAA form for substitutes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates must be experienced in both adult and pediatric medical-surgical nursing.
• EPIC experience is mandatory.
• Weekend work every other weekend is required.
