Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 11 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract assignment in an acute care setting.


Experience Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • State License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start; license must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates; must be current.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for most clinical areas except CVOR, OR, Pediatric OR, Ambulatory Care, and Behavioral Health.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, ERPediatric OR; preferred but not required for PACU.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, and NICU.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required for ER.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred for multiple units including ICU, Neuro ICU, ER, Telemetry, Stepdown, and others.
  • Chemotherapy Certification: Not required for Oncology.
  • Tech Cert Verification: Required for CVOR and NBSTSA certifications as applicable.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all nursing positions except OR; exceptions for legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts.

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting.
  • Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Education verification required for all candidates; international education requires CGFNS documentation if third-party verification is delayed.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam for candidates signing after 4/11/2025. Must confirm ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit Mask: Required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must use approved N95 masks. PAPRs approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • Immunizations:
    • Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual updates required.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster if titers negative/equivocal.
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination documentation required.
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster if titers negative/equivocal.
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31) or approved medical/religious exemption with agency approval.
  • Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant drug screens not accepted.
  • Eye Exam: Required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025.

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Must complete 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment.
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing required onsite during orientation for bedside RNs (except OR).
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for review before orientation testing.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • Return candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts may have some requirements waived (e.g., orientation, pass/fail testing).
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.

This position requires strict adherence to all licensure, certification, health, and compliance requirements to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
