Job Opportunity: Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Unit Supervisor
Location: Harvard, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule
- 80 hours per 2 weeks
- Variable Day Shift Hours with 24/7 accountability
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff with shift accountability
- Coordinate and facilitate nursing care activities to improve continuity of care
- Assist with developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures to meet Federal and State regulatory requirements
- Provide continuing education to ensure staff competency
- Offer consultative direction and expertise in nursing services to maintain quality programs
- Hire, train, evaluate, assign, and delegate duties within budget and resident census guidelines
- Act as patient advocate and resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
- Complete, evaluate, and report monthly quality data (falls, skin, psychotropic medications, chart compliance)
- Develop and maintain departmental objectives, standards, and nursing policy manuals
- Plan and implement new nursing techniques and objectives
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care
- Oversee case management activities including assessment, planning, monitoring, and evaluation
- Organize resident care programs involving interdisciplinary teams
- Foster an environment supporting resident rights and choices
- Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce department policies
- Participate in budget process and maintain monthly expense records
- Guide and enforce infection control practices
Education & Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- BSN required upon hire
- 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience in long term care nursing or demonstrated leadership/management experience in a long term care facility
- Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and State and Federal regulations within Long Term Care and The Joint Commission (TJC)
Certification & Licensure
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice
- Approved CPR certification required within 90 days
- Other certifications per unit requirements may include ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP
