Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule & Requirements

• 40 hours per week
• Work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit requirements
• Call required
• Every third weekend required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

• Neuro Procedures: Cerebral Angio, Carotid Angio, Angioplasty, Stenting, Embolization, Thrombolysis, Thrombectomy

Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• State-specific exclusions list (New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List) within 30 days of start and for extensions
• Attestation required if background check is pending at start

Health & Safety Documents

• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (specific timing and testing protocols apply)
• Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel minimum)
• Fit test and Respiratory Medical Clearance prior to start (on-site fit testing mandatory)
• Seasonal Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (with specific documentation requirements)
• Latex Allergy Questionnaire if applicable
• Color Blind Exam if job tasks require color discrimination

Competency & Testing

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs & LPNs)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for relevant units)
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with remediation policy
• Color Blind Testing (if applicable)

References & Work History

• 2 references within last 2 years (one managerial)
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps)

Additional Notes

• Must complete floating policy for every new assignment or site transfer
• Must sign job description prior to start for assigned unit
• Required to complete annual education sign-off and other facility-specific training and attestations
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for ER, Peds ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (includes online and in-person training)

This position requires a skilled Cath Lab Tech with experience in advanced cardiac and neuro interventional procedures, strong certification credentials, and prior travel contract experience. Candidates must be prepared for holiday and weekend work, call responsibilities, and comprehensive compliance with health, safety, and competency requirements.
