Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chester, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start

Certifications Required

  • Mandatory:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for ER
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for ER
    • NIH Stroke Certification - Required for ER
  • Preferred:
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Not required for ER
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Additional Notes:
    • Certifications must not expire within 30 days of assignment start
    • Candidates must renew or have scheduled renewal if certification is near expiration

  • Facility Type: Hospital with 13 staffed beds
  • Charting System: Epic (Epic experience preferred)
  • Scrub Color: Royal Blue
  • Parking: No cost
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis

Scheduling & Hours

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and others
  • Drug Testing:
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified (not required for this facility)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of First Day Instructions and OurDay Modules prior to start (approx. 2-6 hours depending on location)
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into OurDay platform
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required
  • Signed agreements and acknowledgments including:
    • Assignment Acknowledgment
    • Code of Conduct
    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • Systems User Agreement
    • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • Pre-hire medical evaluation and orientation test required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season (June - November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months August and September
  • Radiation badge required only for specific departments (not applicable for ER)

This position is ideal for ER Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience, who hold the required certifications and licensure, and are comfortable working night shifts with a 1:4 patient ratio in a hospital setting using Epic. Prior travel experience is not required.
