Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA)

Location: Marshall, Michigan

Job Summary

Provides peri-operative care of surgical patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Prepares the physical environment before patient arrival and assists the RN with developing the plan of care. Ensures patient and employee safety by following established procedures.

Essential Functions

• Assist surgical team during operative procedures
• Use instruments and medical devices appropriately
• Provide exposure, handle/cut tissue, provide hemostasis, and suture
• Follow infection prevention standards and safety measures
• Use evidence-based tools, policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Engage in self-assessment, peer review, mandatory education, and competency assessments
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and staff meetings
• Arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operations and pass items to the operating team
• Assist in preparing and moving patients and cleaning the OR

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) experience
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Graduation from an accredited STFA program and certification
