Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech (Surgical Services)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: CVOR Tech
  • Shifts: 3 or 4 shifts of 12 hours each
    • Day shift hours: 06:30 AM – 07:00 PM
    • Evening shift hours: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
    • Majority are day shifts; up to two weeks of the six-week schedule may be evening shifts
  • On Call/Weekend Requirement:
    • 6 calls per 6-week schedule
    • 1 weekend shift and/or 1 holiday per 6-week schedule
  • Float Requirement: If no cardiac cases, float to general surgery
  • Scrubs Provided
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees

Requirements

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience required
    • Must know aseptic technique, case cart management, scrubbing
    • Experience with cardiac and vascular surgical cases required
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Crash cart and XI Robotics experience preferred
    • Surgical experience in General, Orthopedics, Ortho/Spine, Ortho/Joints, Urology, Endoscopy, Thoracic, Neuro, Gyn, Neuro/Spine, Bariatrics, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Podiatry, ENT, and Transplant cases preferred

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required
  • Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana) and updated annually
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Flu vaccine (or approved exemption) required annually during flu season
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher) within 3 years of start
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person) required
  • Competency Exam (general and specialty-specific) required within 3 years of start
  • Tech Certification Verification: Certified OR Tech / Certified Surgical Tech (NBSTSA or NCCT preferred)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually

References and Work History

  • Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information
  • Minimum 2 years of employment in the past 7 years required
  • For travel contracts, at least 1 prior travel assignment or 1 month of per diem assignment required

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is required for this travel/contract position (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
  • Local rate applies within 60 miles of the facility
  • Facility requires completion of specific modules and compliance with all health and safety policies
