Job Opportunity: Pharmacist Inpatient (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Rotating 8-hour day and evening shifts, or a consistent 8-hour evening shift option
• Weekend coverage approximately every 3-4 weeks
• No call requirement
• Focus on inpatient pharmacy workflows including:

  • Order verification
  • IV room oversight
  • Automated dispensing system management
  • Related processes from the main pharmacy
• Candidate should be friendly, adaptable, and clinically skilled
• Facility is an acute care community hospital with 255 staffed beds
• Charting system: Meditech

Experience Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• First-time travelers allowed if other qualifications are met
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Valid Virginia or Compact State Pharmacy License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check with facility)

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Other competency exams as applicable by profession

Background & Health Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Virginia State Police Background Check fingerprinting required (effective 7/15/2025)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (including marijuana; zero tolerance policy)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap within past 10 years
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or declination)
• TB screening: Negative Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 1 year; positive requires chest x-ray report within 5 years
• Annual flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
• Fit mask testing (N95 preferred) required and updated annually
