Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit Details

  • Patient Diagnoses: TIA/Stroke, Anemia, UTI, Chest Pain, and other general medical/surgical populations
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (unit accepts first-time travelers)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Work Expectations

  • Holidays: If one major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall, traveler must work both. If three major holidays fall, traveler must work two of them.
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling

Orientation

  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation Hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Orientation maximum turnaround time (RTO): 7 days

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain specialties; confirm if required for this role
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required if working in PACU/Pre-op/Endo/CSU (if pediatric patients accepted) or ER
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Check if applicable
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs by Aya
  • Competency Exam: Required for Nursing by Aya
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Telemetry, ER, ICU, and related units (confirm if applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed

Licensure & Verification

  • State License Verification: Must be licensed in Georgia
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, etc.
  • Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required by Aya
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated within the last 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Floating within the facility as needed
  • Full compliance with all documentation and certifications is mandatory to start on time

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of medical-surgical experience who are open to travel assignments and meet the outlined certification and compliance requirements.
