Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Unit: Emergency Department (ED) and Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU)
  • Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Schedule: Weekends every 3rd weekend, holidays as needed, floating as needed (may float to ETCU)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Blocked Schedule: Not approved
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (higher value confirmed)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Trauma Level: Level I Trauma experience required
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Additional Certifications: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) recommended as per unit requirements

Unit Description

  • Emergency Department: 74-bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Chest Pain Accredited Center of Excellence
  • Includes a 3-bed trauma bay and secure behavioral health unit
  • ETCU: 22-bed expansion unit with telemetry capability, including negative pressure rooms
  • ETCU serves as a staging area for patients awaiting further testing, consultation, or inpatient beds
  • Med/Surg nurses provide inpatient-level care in ETCU and may be cross-trained for ED tasks
  • May care for COVID-19 patients

  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
    • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
    • PA FBI Fingerprinting within 1 year of start (can start with results pending if on file within 45 days)
    • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search within 1 year of start (must be finalized prior to start)
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 5 years (can start with results pending if on file within 45 days)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
    • Immunizations and titers: Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start (PPD not accepted)
    • Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination accepted
    • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Licensure & Verification:
    • Primary source verification of state license
    • NURSYS verification for RN license
    • Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency as applicable
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health
  • Other Required Documents:
    • Professional references (2 within last 3 years)
    • Recent resume or employment application
    • Skills checklist (annual)
    • Photo for badge (professional, passport-style)
    • Various facility-specific agreements and attestations (Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Health & Wellness, etc.)
    • Completion of required Learning Management System (LMS) modules and new hire orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates will undergo a clinical pre-screen to determine fit before manager interview
  • Floating to ETCU may be required
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Facility may care for COVID-19 patients
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free environment

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week assignment in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
