Description

Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

Location: Sumter, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5 shifts of 8 hours each
  • Setting: Acute care hospital
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of experience in therapy/rehabilitation
  • Experience Preferences:
    • Acute care experience required
    • Rehabilitation hospital experience preferred
  • Skills: Lifting and transfer skillset required
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required
  • Uniform: Teal scrub color

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • State License (Primary Source Verification required, no pending actions, valid at start)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, valid at start
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, valid at start (check unit requirements)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, MAB) - verify with unit specifics

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (required ASAP for computer access and on duty)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including:
    • SS Trace, all aliases, state and county searches for all places lived/worked in last 7 years
    • FACIS III search
    • Sex Offender search
    • International searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if no proof of 12 months residency in state (not typically required for this role)
  • Education verification (highest level required, diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
  • OFAC Sanctions List Search for all new candidates

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines (pending 2nd vaccine allowed within 28 days)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines (pending 2nd vaccine allowed within 28 days)
  • Annual flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required (not required for 100% remote workers)

Orientation & Training

  • Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
  • Pre-assignment testing (medication and arrhythmia tests) required within 72 hours of receiving login info (2 attempts max)
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, light background, no obstructions)
  • Facility-specific compliance checklists and acknowledgments must be completed

Additional Notes

  • Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable
  • Respirator fit test (N95) completed onsite during orientation
  • Floating policy must be signed (not required for non-clinical)
  • Medication competency exams required annually for positions dispensing medication
  • Color blindness testing required for certain nursing roles (ED, Pediatric ER)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication required for RNs in specific units

This position is suitable for therapists with at least 1 year of acute care experience and those new to travel assignments. The role requires compliance with extensive background checks, certifications, immunizations, and facility-specific orientation and testing.
