Job Description

• May be assigned to an "Emergency Team" during events, requiring staying at the facility until the event passes or joining a relief team.
• Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by the unit manager.
• Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Average Daily Census: 25 patients
• Unit Size: 30 rooms
• Floating required
• Epic experience required
• Scrub color: Navy

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, RQI accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, RQI accepted
• NIHSS
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Must be updated annually; can be completed onsite during orientation week
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit specifics

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
• Unit accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience not required)

Licensure

• Active Louisiana RN license or Compact License required upon submission
• License must be current or in the process of renewal before start date

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education verification of highest level required
• Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance
• Employment application and skills checklist required, with 7 years employment history and gap explanations if applicable

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
• Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU)
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series (2 doses)
• Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, or booster after negative titer; declination allowed with signed form
• Varicella: Positive IGG titer, completed vaccine series, or booster after negative titer
• Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)

Additional Notes

• Color blind testing and competency exams required annually (specific to specialty)
• Emergency preparedness checklist required during hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30)
• Photo for badge required within 24 hours of booking (passport-style, recent, plain background)

This position is ideal for ICU Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with emergency response assignments and meet the specified licensure, certification, and health requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
