• Unit: May assign to "Emergency Team" during emergency events with expectation to stay until event passes or be part of relief team.

Experience Requirements

• Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; unit will accept first-time travelers

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, RQI accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, RQI accepted
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Must be updated annually; can be completed onsite during orientation week

Licensure

• Active Louisiana RN License or Compact License required upon submission
• License must be current or renewal in process if expiring within 30 days of start

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Sex Offender Search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education Verification of highest level required
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
• TB Questionnaire if positive TB test
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Tdap vaccine required for select departments (ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually

Additional Requirements

• Color photo for badge (passport-style, recent, plain background)
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Employment application/resume with 7 years employment history and explanation for gaps
• Competency exam specific to specialty, minimum 80%, updated annually
• Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed

• CPI certification can be completed onsite during orientation week if not current.
