Job Details

Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only (Not required for Pediatric Stepdown)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for NICU only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER; preferred for Pediatric ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Check unit requirements
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health; preferred for ER RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required for all RNs except Behavioral Health, Case Management, Home Health, OR, Pediatric units, NICU, Labor and Delivery
Competency Exams and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start; must score 85%
- Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024; must score 80% or higher
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, and all ICU units (except Neuro ICU, SICU, NICU)
Background and Verification Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually) including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, national sex offender, national criminal, federal extended, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation required for internationally educated RNs
- Education verification of highest level required; official transcripts may be requested
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test: Within 12 months of start; must be updated annually; clean-shaven required for fit testing
- TB Testing: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months (2nd PPD can pend at start)
- TB Questionnaire: Required annually
- Vaccinations/Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, 3-dose vaccine series, or declination within 1 year
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history; boosters required if low/equivocal
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum (Tdap declination acceptable)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination (2025-26): Vaccine or medical/religious exemption required; declinations not allowed
- COVID: Initial vaccine series preferred
Drug Testing
- 10 Panel Drug Screen required within 12 months of start (rapid 10 panel accepted)
Facility-Specific Training and Documents (Required for RNs)
- Stroke Education Module and Attestation (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (except certain hospitals)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health) – must be updated annually
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required for RNs and Allied as of 5/31/2024)

- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position offers guaranteed hours and is suitable for first-time travel nurses with at least 2 years of RN experience in telemetry or medical-surgical telemetry units.
