Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position. The role requires current certifications and state licensure ready at the time of assignment start.


Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Pennsylvania RN license (must have license in hand at start)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (front and back of card required)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required for ER & Behavioral Health units

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in ICU
  • Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ years ICU experience typical for ICU travel RN roles (no prior travel experience explicitly required)

Background & Screening

  • Background check within 30 days of start, including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide sex offender, and PA statewide patch search

Health & Immunizations

  • Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year plus annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or positive titers within 10 years for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
  • Negative 15-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1); declinations accepted

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)

Facility-Specific Requirements (to be completed prior to start)

  • Orientation checklist

  • Confidentiality agreement
  • Disclosure statement (with date)
  • Employment handbook review
  • Various training and competency assessments including:
    • Patient policy assessment (100% quiz pass required)
    • Interdisciplinary plans of care (100% quiz pass required)
    • Skin integrity training (100% quiz pass required)
    • Mobility training (100% quiz pass required)
    • Catheter training (100% quiz pass required)
    • Cardiac procedure education (for telemetry units)
    • Competency assessment form (for telemetry units)

  • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care within 3 years of start
