Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Randallstown, Maryland

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (ICU).
  • Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers are welcome).

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Provider Certification or equivalent accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Provider Certification or equivalent accepted
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (valid for 1 year; specific vendors accepted)

Job Description

  • Care for the most critical patients in the hospital.
  • Patients primarily admitted from the Emergency Department who meet admission criteria.
  • Patient population includes Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Post-Operative, and ICU Transfers.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually.
  • Education verification and accreditation confirmation required.
  • Primary source verification of state nursing license (NURSYS verification required).
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • Immunizations: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines or positive titer). Medical/religious exemptions allowed with approval.
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required.
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start (can be direct supervisor references).
  • Employment application and work history verification required (verification of 2 workplaces within last 7 years).

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo required for hospital ID.
  • Completion and signing of facility policies including attendance, floating, and consent to release information.
  • ReadySet account setup and completion of health assessment surveys prior to start.
  • EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required if indicated by unit description; must be completed via approved platforms with limited attempts.
  • Stroke and Trauma CEUs may be required; stroke CEUs must be completed prior to or within one week of start; trauma CEUs required after 27 weeks of work.

Additional Notes

  • Respirator fit testing will be completed onsite; PAPR training provided if fit test is failed.
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams is time-sensitive and must be prioritized.
  • Candidate must comply with all facility and system-specific documentation and certification requirements prior to start.
