Work Setting & Unit Details

• Units: Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), ICU, Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
• Primary float: ICU, with floating to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, ICU units within the hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • ICU: 1:2-3
  • PCU: 1:4-5
  • MS/MS Tele: 1:5-6
• Electronic Health Record System: Epic (required)
• Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Conditions

• RTO (Report to Orientation): Maximum 7 days
• Weekends: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
• Floating: Required
• Call: None
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: New Year’s Eve/Day, Spring Break (2nd week April), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time
• Non-compliance results in 2-week push back due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
• Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Licenses: State license verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license required)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific requirements if prior positive)
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Flu vaccination or declination required (seasonal)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start; cannot start with results pending
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, Cardiac step-down) with max 3 attempts
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• References: 2 clinical references required by agency
• Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Required for most recent employer; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

• Locals accepted at same rate
• Floating across multiple units is mandatory
• No call requirements
• Dress and professional appearance policy must be reviewed and followed
• Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct prior to start

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of critical care experience who is comfortable floating across ICU and related units, working every other weekend, and meeting strict compliance and certification requirements.
