Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVICU)

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 18 months ICU experience required
    • 2 years ICU experience preferred (use 2 years as requirement)
    • Must have experience with both cardiac and neuro patients (ICU is mixed)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Start Date: Next applicable orientation date approximately 3-4 weeks out
  • Schedule:
    • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
    • No block scheduling accommodation
    • Floating required within scope to all 3 nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)

Certifications Required

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) - must have at time of submission
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - must have at time of submission
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) - must obtain prior to start
  • Epic experience at level 3 or 4 required (time-sensitive modules must be prioritized)

  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted space
  • Smoke-Free Facility: All travelers must be nicotine-free (negative 10 panel drug screen including nicotine required)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID required on person during hours of service
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10 panel drug screen plus nicotine within 1 year of start (no FL Medical Marijuana card accepted)
  • Physical Exam: Completed within 6 months of start
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
    • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Requirements

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late RTO requests likely not approved
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) administered during orientation; required for RNs/LPNs
  • State License primary source verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • 2 professional references required within 2 years of start date
  • Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on phone)
  • Compliance with facility-specific privacy policies and affidavits

  • Pending licenses not accepted
  • Floating to multiple hospital locations within 20 miles required
  • Facility is smoke-free and requires nicotine-free status verified by drug screening
  • Epic experience and NIHSS certification are critical and must be prioritized

This position is ideal for RNs with ICU experience, especially those skilled in cardiac and neuro critical care, who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, teaching hospital environment with multiple hospital locations nearby.
