Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN MS)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays or weekends, and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; all clinicians must float within their scope as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs in Med Surg and other specialties; must be updated annually
• Certifications Preferred:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only

Licensing & Location

• Must have an active RN license valid in Illinois
• Locals accepted, preference for candidates living within 75 miles of the facility
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing required within 12 months of start

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

• Must complete facility-specific onboarding forms and competency checklists annually
• Floating is mandatory to meet facility needs

This role is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs comfortable with night shifts, floating, and working in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
