Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU - Nights)
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Nights (6VP)
- Shift: Night shift
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- Guaranteed Hours: Call off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all other contracted shifts guaranteed
- Float Requirement: Must float within scope to meet facility needs/float between like units
- Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating block scheduling
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: 2 contracts max (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- EKG Exam: Must pass EKG competency exam, no exceptions
- Scrub Color: Royal blue and white
- Charting System: Epic
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Competency Exams:
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must be completed via Relias and renewed annually)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with a minimum score of 80% (3 attempts max)
Background & Health Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start
- Education Verification: Required (Diploma accepted if verification unavailable)
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations & Health Screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
- COVID-19 Vaccines: Not required but accepted if available
Additional Notes
- Travel pairs are not accepted on this unit
- On-call is not required
- Must comply with facility-specific policies including confidentiality, professional appearance, and computer use
- Photo for badge required prior to start (passport-style, no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
- Orientation typically occurs on Monday, expect to be there most of the day
- Must complete required facility-specific forms and modules prior to start
