Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Augusta, Georgia

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience (Medical Surgical)
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to facility-specific requirements)
  • State License verification required within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license)
  • Education verification required (degree verification or transcripts acceptable)

Work Setting & Unit Details

  • Specialty: Renal Medical Surgical
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Unit Size: 49 rooms, average daily census 48
  • Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holidays: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Documentation & Health Screenings

  • Background Check (within 30 days of start) including criminal, sex offender, education verification
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific requirements if history of positive TB)
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required by agency
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU) with up to 3 attempts allowed
  • Other competency exams as required by specialty and facility

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency (not required by client)
  • Work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
