Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia

Job Summary

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Critical Care Float)
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Minimum Experience Required: 1 year (no prior travel experience required)
  • Floating: Required primarily ICU float; may float to Med-Surg, Med-Surg Tele, PCU, ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU units
  • Shift Guarantee: 36 or 48 hours guaranteed per week
  • Ratio / Census:
    • ICU: 1:2-3
    • PCU: 1:4-5
    • Med-Surg/Med-Surg Tele: 1:5-6
  • Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (see below)
  • Major Holidays Include:
    • New Year’s Eve and Day
    • Spring Break (typically second week of April)
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve and Day

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Additional Requirements & Competencies

  • Must be proficient with Epic electronic health record system
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by Aya)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, Tele, Med-Surg Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (required by Aya for Nursing)

Licensure & Verification

  • State License verification (Georgia) within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification required (degree related to specialty)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if prior positive)
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required (seasonal)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)

Orientation & Compliance

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Work History & References

  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required
