Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Facility Type: Skilled Nursing and Rehab Units in a Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility
Position Details
- Job Title: SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Every other weekend rotation (weekend required upon request)
- Patient Ratios: Direct patient care for up to 20 residents; average daily census 72
- Attire: Any shade of blue scrubs
- Charting System: PowerChart
- Parking: Free parking available
- Mileage Reimbursement: None

- License: Must have license in hand to submit; proof of license required
- Certifications Required Before Start:
- IV Certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating Between Units: Not applicable

- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required upon request of the center
Job Description & Special Requirements
- Work primarily in skilled nursing and rehab units that function similarly to Med-Surg units
- Rehab experience with strong Med/Surg and acute care background is helpful but not required
- Dementia training/experience highly recommended
- Excellent customer service skills essential
- Collaborate closely with CNAs and HCAs
- Use of special lifting equipment required
- Provide specialized medical and rehabilitation care to dementia and surgical patients, including IV medications and wound care
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background checks required within 1 year of start and updated annually, including:
- Social Security trace
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months; instant tests acceptable; cannot start with drug screen pending
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, updated annually (can be completed by NP or PCP)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine record or declination within past 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (specific testing protocols apply)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series, with booster requirements
- Hepatitis B declination form required
- Varicella: vaccination, positive titer, or history of chickenpox accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- COVID-19 vaccination required unless medical/religious exemption granted; testing requirements apply for exemptions
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exam required
Additional Notes
- Must provide proof of license at time of submission; no approval after offer
- Call-outs require more than 24 hours’ notice
- No on-site IV certification classes; must have IV cert prior to start
- Facility uses lifting equipment; physical ability to use this equipment is necessary
- Excellent customer service and teamwork with support staff expected
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working in a skilled nursing and rehab environment, including care for dementia and surgical patients, and who hold the required certifications and licenses. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
