Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
  • Day shift / evening shift rotation
  • Shift options include a combination of 2 eight-hour and 2 twelve-hour shifts or five-hour shifts
  • Replacement position

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for CVOR roles (typically 1-2 years in CVOR or related OR experience)
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA certification only; no certificates of completion or RQI cards accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certification only; no certificates of completion or RQI cards accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required only for specific units (MOTT: PACU, OR, Pediatric ICUs); not required for UH PACU
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required as applicable; no certificates of completion or RQI cards accepted
  • State RN License – Primary source online verification required
  • NURSYS Verification – Required for RN license verification

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 30 days of start, renewed annually (includes all counties lived/worked, sex offender, nationwide checks)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and updated annually
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • I9 or attestation required
  • E-Verify or attestation required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 masks accepted); renewed annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive TB, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screens not accepted; updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required year-round with strict deadlines; no exemptions allowed

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Pass/fail competency testing (EKG/medication) required for PACU, Tele, and ICU units including CVICU
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for PACU, Tele, and ICU units including CVICU
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation paperwork within 3 weeks of start date is mandatory
  • Various facility-specific attestations and agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start (confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, sexual harassment, cornerstone modules)

References & Evaluations

  • Two recent verified professional references required (must be from managers/supervisors; charge RN references not accepted)
  • Facility will complete performance evaluation during assignment

Additional Notes

  • Badge and pager return policies apply at assignment end to avoid fees
  • Candidates must be prepared for onsite pass/fail testing and review provided study materials prior to start
