Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel (Contract)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) for night shift (7 PM - 7 AM) in a very high acuity emergency department. The nurse practices independently, providing routine and complex care, managing clinical situations, and making appropriate assignments and delegations.


Patient Population

  • High acuity cases including strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis
  • Some trauma cases (not a trauma-designated unit)
  • Security onsite 24/7

Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call or floating requirements
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 4:1

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • RN License in Louisiana or compact license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty (Emergency Department or similar) (highest required years of experience applied)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Orientation & Onboarding

  • New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
  • Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations, including Emergency Department-specific competencies
  • Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program
  • Annual competency verification required

Additional Information

  • Temp-to-perm possibility available
