Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse
Location: Melbourne, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8)
- Float required to cover wound care consults at 4 hospitals within the system
- Primary location has the highest volume of consults; floating occurs a couple of times per week
- Team includes WOCNs and a Wound Care RN (per diem) managing 4 hospitals
- First-time travelers accepted
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Block schedules may be accommodated based on unit needs and manager approval
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Wound Care focus
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience (highest required years of experience)
- Certifications:
- Wound Care Certified (WCC) required at time of submission
- Ostomy Certified (WOCN) preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- EPIC experience required
- Florida State or compact nursing license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
- Must provide 2 professional references from managers, supervisors, charge nurses, or directors within the last year
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Additional Requirements
- Floating to cover multiple hospitals as needed
- Contracted hours guaranteed
- Scrubs: Any solid color (bring your own or wear provided scrubs)
- Background checks and verifications required, including:
- MVR release for certain care areas
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 90 days
- Monthly HHS/OIG checks
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
- Education verification required; certain educational institutions are not accepted
- Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Titers required within 5 years for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (quantitative titers only; immunization records not accepted)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption documentation required annually during flu season
- Completion of facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgement, confidentiality agreement, iCARE values, and badge form
Certifications to Maintain (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for Labor and Delivery candidates
- IV Certification for LPN/Home Care roles
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual renewal)
- HIV, Medication Errors, and Alzheimer’s certifications for Home Care workers
