Job Details

• Unit: Ortho/Spine/Med/Surg with MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off, every other weekend, no call
• Required to float between units
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts available and may be flexed based on census/resource needs
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in MS/Tele or Med/Surg
• Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Certifications & Licenses

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
• Other certifications to verify based on unit specifics: PALS, NRP, TNCC (preferred for ER), NIH Stroke Certification
• State nursing license with primary source verification
• NURSYS verification required

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs on Sunday)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation included

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
• Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required (dress code, smoking policy, flu vaccination policy, respirator medical evaluation, etc.)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist required
• References: 2 preferred, 3 ideal

This position offers a structured schedule with no call, opportunities for overtime, and involvement in clinical education. It is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of MS/Tele or Med/Surg experience and is open to first-time travel nurses.
