Pharmacist - Pharmacy

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel


Job Description

  • Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages and hospital areas.
  • Practice in accordance with state/federal and DEA laws, TJC Standards, and hospital/departmental policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians on drug selection and dosing.
  • Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians regarding medications.
  • Participate in Medication Safety initiatives.
  • Manage patient profiles and report adverse drug reactions.
  • Mix IV admixtures and nutritional supplements.
  • Maintain narcotic accountability.
  • Work schedule: 7 nights on / 7 nights off, 8:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Wednesday through Tuesday).
  • No on-call duties.

Requirements

  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Arizona Pharmacist License (required)
    • ACLS & BLS (required)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years recent hospital pharmacist experience (inpatient acute hospital required).
    • Sterile compounding experience required.
    • Ability to work independently.
  • Preferred:
    • Board Certified and/or accredited pharmacy residency (preferred, not required).

Work Environment & Additional Information

  • Inpatient acute hospital setting with 44 beds plus Emergency Department.
  • EMR system: Cerner.
  • Work environment is clean, smoke-free, well-lit healthcare setting.
  • Exposure to video display terminals and keyboard use.
  • May experience irregular hours and frequent interruptions.
  • Must handle pressure from multiple calls and inquiries.
  • May be exposed to unpleasant clinical elements (accidents, injuries, illness).
  • Requires sound judgment and actions affecting patient and employee health and outcomes.
  • Operational and people management skills needed to ensure patient satisfaction, quality improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborative work with diverse stakeholders to meet key goals.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks (approximately 3 months).
