Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Odessa, Texas
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Location: Odessa, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Patient Ratio: Up to 6:1
- Work Schedule: Facility may consider 48 hours per week, 36/48 alternating, or possibly 36 hours per week
- Floating: Must be willing to float to other med/surg/tele units as assigned
Experience Requirements
- Years of RN Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Prior Travel Experience: Strongly preferred (not explicitly required, but highly recommended)
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable), as applicable
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required as applicable
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Required as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – Required as applicable
- Chemotherapy Certification – Required as applicable
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) – Required as applicable
- State Nursing License Verification – Required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification – Required within 30 days of start
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication/Pharmacology) – Required for RNs; includes a pharmacology exam at orientation with up to 3 attempts allowed
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 30 days of start; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Facility-specific documents including Standards of Conduct, Dress Code Policy, Standards of Behavior, COVID Declination (if applicable), HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz, Orientation and Safety Training Modules, and Annual TB Questionnaire
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Drug testing required; negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, with plan for completion within 72 hours of signing contract
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Fit mask test within 1 year; annual update required (specific mask types accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (chest X-ray within 2 years for positive responders); annual TB questionnaire required
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series (3), or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (October-April); mask required if declination submitted
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years of start
- Resume or employment application copy required
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Orientation and safety training modules must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract with certificates provided (screenshots not accepted)
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably with prior travel nursing experience, who are flexible to float across med/surg and telemetry units and meet comprehensive certification, background, and health requirements.
