Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Job Description

• Work with mixed acuity patients on PCU and MS units.
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; schedule may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs.
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; changes depend on staffing priorities.
• Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
• Self-scheduling requests allowed for preferred shifts.
• Orientation:

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, day shift
  • Week 2: 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years Registered Nurse experience (higher value confirmed).
• Oncology experience preferred but not required.
• Prior travel experience preferred (not mandatory).

Skills & Competencies

• EPIC experience required.
• IV starts, telemetry, and tracheostomy management skills.
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5.

Certifications

• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – check unit-specific requirements.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start.
• State nursing license verification required within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required for RNs.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen).
• COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available.

Background & Screening

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific codes; results must be current within 1 year.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
• Education accreditation verification required for nursing programs.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Two professional references required; at least one from a manager or formal leadership.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies.
• Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
• Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.
