Description

Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (10:30 AM - 6:30 PM; earlier shifts possible)
  • Daily Caseload: 25-40 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Only under certain conditions (e.g., inclement weather)
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: No floating required; however, CT/SIM experience preferred

Experience & Certifications

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year clinical experience (preferred 2+ years)
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • ARRT(R)
    • SCRQSA
  • Equipment Experience:
    • Must be able to operate a linear accelerator
    • CT experience preferred
    • Familiarity with Aria and Vision RT systems
  • Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does not provide)

Work Environment & Miscellaneous

  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Dress Code: Black pants with teal top or all black
  • Charting: Paper and digital (Aria, Align RT)
  • Parking: Free
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Work Eligibility: I-9 attestation and completed I-9 form required
  • Identification: Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Not required for this facility, but diploma/transcripts preferred as placeholder if needed
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance Evaluation: Required within 12 months of start
  • Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
  • Work History Verification: Not required for this facility

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
  • COVID-19: Vaccines highly preferred but not required; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for patient-facing travelers via RespSafety questionnaire

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Orientation: Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start; estimated 4 hours for Florence campus
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required
