Job Description

  • Must have strong proficiency in Robotics and Vascular surgery.
  • Surgical Technologist role with a start date ASAP (allow 4 weeks from offer for compliance).
  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (06:45 - 19:15).
  • Types of cases include:
    • Orthopedics (minimum 2 years Level 1-2 experience including total joints and trauma)
    • Neurosurgery (minimum 2 years Level 1-2 experience including craniotomies)
    • General/Trauma, Vascular, GYN/Urology, Robotics
  • Must be comfortable working in a busy Level 2 Trauma Center.
  • Facility is a Robotic Center of Excellence with 3 Xi robots and 2 DV5 robots deployed.
  • Case volume: 60-70 cases per day.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with skills in:
    • Eye surgeries (Vitrectomies, Scleral Buckles, Retina, Cataracts)
    • General surgery
    • Orthopedics and Neuro Trauma
    • Basic Urology
    • Major Vascular (including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - AAA)
  • Must be able to scrub independently without a sales rep for knees, hips, and preferably shoulders.
  • Level 2 trauma experience required; Level 1 trauma preferred.
  • Strong experience with AAA, carotid, and femoral vascular cases required.
  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers are not accepted.

Certifications & Licensure

  • CST certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Pending state license accepted.

Work Schedule & Other Requirements

  • 40 guaranteed hours per week.
  • On-call required: Four 8-hour call shifts per 4-week cycle.
  • Weekend requirements: To be determined.
  • No floating to sister facilities or outside scope.
  • Locals not accepted.

Compliance & Orientation Requirements

  • Must complete PeaceHealth orientation manual and quizzes with 100% score prior to start.
  • Background checks required within 60 days of start, including SSN trace, criminal, federal, and education verification.
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year and updated annually (N95 fit testing onsite if needed).
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B immunity or declination as per facility policy
    • Drug testing within 30 days of start
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination during flu season
  • Must sign various facility-specific forms including criminal disclosure, demographic form, and orientation checklists.

Summary

This is a travel contract position for an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist with strong robotics, vascular, trauma, and specialty surgical skills. Prior travel experience is mandatory. The role requires working in a busy Level II Trauma Center with a high volume of complex cases and robotic surgeries. Certification and compliance with extensive health and background requirements are necessary before starting.
