Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)
Location: Midland, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty
- Registered Nurse (RN) with Medical-Surgical and Oncology experience
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years Medical-Surgical experience
- Oncology experience required
- Comfortable caring for Step-Down patients
- Prior travel work history highly preferred (not required)
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing care according to physician orders and nursing standards (30%)
- Provide direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, treatments, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms (30%)
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and collaborate with team members to update care plans (20%)
- Process and perform physician/provider orders accurately and timely (10%)
- Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications (10%)
Requirements & Certifications
- Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification)
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification
- Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
- Skills checklist current to within 1 year, pertinent to Medical-Surgical specialty
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
Additional Information
- EMR system used: Epic
- Dress code: Navy Blue
- Facility will not consider candidates within a 50-mile radius of the permanent address
- Scheduling requests must be made at time of submission; no changes allowed after offer
This position involves working with oncology patients, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow in a 324-bed medical center with a Level II trauma designation.
