Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must function independently in all areas of Endoscopy, including advanced procedures such as:
    • EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound)
    • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
    • Pulmonary procedures including bronchoscopy and EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound)
  • Expertise in bariatric procedures and ION Robot preferred
  • May be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of relief teams
  • 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities for after hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Possible shift times:
    • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
    • 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
    • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
    • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Must demonstrate alignment with the facility’s mission and values, prioritizing patient care and functioning as a full-time employee

Required Experience

  • Registered Nurse with full competency in all endoscopic procedures, including advanced endoscopy and pulmonary procedures

Certifications & Licenses

  • Active Louisiana RN license or Compact License required upon submission
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy required)
  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Sex Offender Search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification of highest level required (if applicable)
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
  • Competency exam specific to specialty, completed within 1 year prior to start, minimum 80% score, updated annually
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required, updated annually (may be unit-specific)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • TB (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 12 months, updated annually)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for select units)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)

Additional Requirements

  • Resume/application required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and on-call duties
  • Expected to behave and perform as a full-time employee of the facility
  • May be required to participate in emergency preparedness activities, especially during hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30)

This position is ideal for experienced Endoscopy RNs who are confident in advanced endoscopic and pulmonary procedures and are flexible with on-call and emergency assignments.
