- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Unit size: 49 rooms, average daily census of 48
- Electronic systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating: Yes
- Call requirements: None
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- Holiday work: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on specialty area
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required depending on unit assignment
- State License verification required within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license)
- Annual NURSYS verification required
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties such as Telemetry, ICU, ER)
Compliance & Orientation
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours orientation)
- Locals accepted at same rate
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if history of positive TB)
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu vaccine or declination required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- If multiple major holidays fall within assignment, traveler is expected to work most of them as specified
- No call requirements, but floating to other units may be required
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of medical-surgical experience, comfortable working with adult to geriatric patients in a renal med-surg setting, and able to comply with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
