Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Cardiology - Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Portland, Oregon

Job Description

This role requires experience and familiarity with Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs). The RN will work in an outpatient cardiology clinic setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients with cardiac monitoring devices.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient and family interviews to assess understanding of cardiac device care.
  • Independently perform CIED interrogation in the outpatient setting.
  • Troubleshoot device function, settings, arrhythmia episodes, and interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Electrophysiology (EP) team and other healthcare professionals.
  • Analyze clinical data and document CIED management summaries, clinic notes, and correspondence.
  • Triage patient clinical concerns related to cardiac device care.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and device follow-up.
  • Proactively manage patient schedules to optimize clinical workflow.
  • Ensure resources are available to support patient care and procedures.
  • Assist with data collection for device clinic charting, national registries, and quality initiatives.
  • Manage device alerts, advisories, and recalls in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and vendors.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM


Requirements

Licensure & Education:

  • RN license valid for Oregon and Washington.
  • BSN or higher degree preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification (AHA provider only) required.
  • PALS and NRP certifications preferred or required depending on patient population.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience with emphasis on adult cardiovascular patient care.
  • Experience with Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) is mandatory.

Prior Travel Experience:

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on the first day.
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
  • National Sex Offender Search and other federal checks required within 30 days prior to start.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start.
  • Physical exam and fit mask testing required within 1 year prior to start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine or signed declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination.
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination.
  • References: Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required.
  • Employment application with at least 7 years of work history required.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required within 1 year of start.
  • Facility-specific policies and professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Completion of required online training modules (Compass) prior to start.

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA provider only)
  • ACLS (AHA provider only)
  • PALS (AHA provider only) – preferred
  • NRP (AHA/AAP) – preferred
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 85% or higher)
  • Color blindness testing (if applicable)
  • Stroke CEUs for relevant units (if applicable)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until their start date.
  • Onsite fit testing for respirators is available if agency testing is not possible.
  • Facility requires completion of specific orientation and training materials prior to badge issuance.
  • Candidates must sign facility-specific attestations including coronavirus protocols and vaccine declination/waiver forms if applicable.
