Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 36 hours per week, Nights
Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:3
Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care, Magnet, Teaching, Level I Trauma Center

Job Description
- Specialty: Medical Oncology RN
- Start Dates Available: Multiple dates in March and April
- Patient Diagnoses: Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, Sickle Cell, Symptom Management
- Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy
- Stem Cell Infusions
- CAR-T Therapy
- Bone Marrow Biopsies
- Lumbar Punctures
- Blood Product Transfusions
- Central Line Care
- Floating: Yes, within scope to Acute Care/Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in medical oncology (highest requirement)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Epic Experience: Preferred but not required
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Not required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Chemotherapy certification (does not have to be ONS)
- Preferred Skills: Chemotherapy competency preferred but not required
- Licensing:
- Locals accepted
- Pending license accepted if application submitted and received by licensing board (qualifies for 90-day license exemption)
Scheduling & Time Off
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Maximum of 5 RTO (Request Time Off) days approved for 13-week contract
- RTO days over 5 require contract extension to maintain full assignment length
- All time off requests must be submitted upfront
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series, immune titer, or declination)
- Varicella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Flu vaccination or signed declination (seasonal requirement)
- Fit mask test required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)
- Completion of facility-specific compliance modules prior to start (Compass modules for RNs)
- References: Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history
Additional Notes
- Facility has a professional appearance policy that must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date
- Parking: $16 daily pass required (8am-5pm), public transportation encouraged
- Scrub color: Any color, no prints (provided)
