Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty
- Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Must have Level 4 NICU experience (highest required years of experience implied)
- Cardiac PICU experience preferred
- Working in a children's hospital setting
Schedule
- Nights
- 36 or 48 hours offered
- Every other weekend and every other holiday off
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model (manager will explain; no guaranteed schedule but will try to accommodate)
Certifications Required
- RRT certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) preferred
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) may be required depending on unit
- Other certifications may be requested based on unit specifics
Licensure
- VA license pending acceptable if temp license can be obtained before start
- Must have another state license to be eligible for temp license

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
- HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
- Education verification through 3rd party vendor (official transcripts required)
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit (facility will notify)
- Abuse Registry Search required only for candidates going to specific units (not applicable here)
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (no declinations allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
- Annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations)
- Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required or negative Surface and Antigen titers within 6 months
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but will not hold clearance)
- Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
Facility Specific Documents
- Professional appearance guidelines acknowledgment
- Release authorization
- TB screening form
- Traveler compliance acknowledgment
- Fit testing acknowledgment (if patient-facing role)
- Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
Competency & Testing
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for NICU)
References & History
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluations if worked over 1 year with the agency
- Skills checklist updated annually

- Working in a pediatric environment with emphasis on NICU and possibly cardiac PICU experience
