Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is an extension opportunity.

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Required Years of Experience: At least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar area to the pending assignment.
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable. Must be current at start.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for MS/Tele.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Preferred but not required.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Not required for MS/Tele.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required.
• State Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start; must be current.
• NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
• NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred but not required.
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all bedside RNs except OR; completed onsite during orientation.
• Competency Exams: Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all nursing positions except OR.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace
  • National sex offender registry
  • Education verification
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed under nursing code 4723.09.
• Education verification required for all candidates.
• References: 2 references from employment within the past year, from a manager, supervisor, or director.
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• TB questionnaire annually if history of positive TB.

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Modules include safety, medication administration, and facility-specific protocols.
• Candidates must complete all modules before clearance to start.
• Pass/Fail medication and EKG testing completed onsite during orientation.
• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months from previous assignment at the facility may have some requirements waived (e.g., pass/fail testing, modules).

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times.
• Fingerprinting results must be received prior to extension contracts.
• Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break.
• Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
• Candidates with facial hair failing fit mask testing must shave or submit exemption documentation for approval.
