Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Cases per Day: 5-10
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as applicable
  • On-Call: Maximum 3 nights per 7-day period (5 PM – 7 AM)
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Locals Accepted
  • Unit: Cardiac Interventional Radiology
  • Scrubs: Provided by hospital

Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology)
  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
  • License: New Jersey state license required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Teaching hospital experience required
    • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred

Skills & Procedures

  • Scrub and circulate during procedures
  • Interventional body and neuro procedures
  • Endovascular interventions
  • Abdominal & pelvic interventions
  • Genitourinary interventions

Equipment & Systems

  • Sterile procedure and equipment setup
  • Use of closure devices and EKOS system
  • Familiarity with GE and Phillips Angio Suites
  • Charting systems: EPIC Radiant, Q-site

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
  • Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
    • Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared for essential job functions
    • Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Fit test and respiratory medical clearance if job tasks require respirator use
    • Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for relevant units)
    • Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Additional Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for Interventional Radiology RN
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit and role (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemo certification)

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Work History: Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history; gaps must be explained
  • Skills Checklist: Must be completed and updated annually
  • Floating Policy: Must complete for every new assignment or site transfer
  • Annual Education: Completion of annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required

Notes

  • Candidates switching between sites within the same hospital system with less than 30 days gap may reuse some documentation if still valid
  • On-site fit testing is mandatory for respirator clearance
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements prior to start
