Job Opportunity: Pediatric Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Portland, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

Position Overview

  • Role: Pediatric Cath Lab Tech
  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, only when taking call
  • On-call Requirement: Yes
  • Floating: No
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated unless specified
  • Locals and first-timers accepted
  • Pending license accepted if application submitted and received by licensing board
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 1-2 weeks max

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during pediatric cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Operate complex radiologic imaging equipment including fluoroscopy and ultrasonography
  • Circulate in procedure room and operate imaging equipment for adult and congenital cases
  • Cross-train to other service areas such as EP and Hybrid OR
  • Prepare patients and supplies under sterile conditions
  • Scrub in with physicians and assist in procedures, including fine motor tasks like threading stents and balloons
  • Obtain accurate x-rays while ensuring patient safety and comfort
  • Operate automatic injectors and select appropriate contrast agents under physician direction
  • Provide patient care during examinations in collaboration with staff
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, coordinate borrowing equipment as needed
  • Work independently on-call with physicians and nurses

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Valid Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (all AHA provider only)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating radiologic equipment or equivalent specialized training/experience (higher of 1 year stated in description vs 2 years in qualifications)
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Cardiac Interventional and/or Vascular Interventional certification from ASRT (RCES or RCIS preferred)
  • Knowledge and skills in EP/Cath Lab technology preferred

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA provider only
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA provider only
  • Registration with ARRT
  • Valid Oregon Radiologic Technologist license

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in radiologic equipment operation (default to higher requirement)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance & Screening Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification
  • National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start
  • Physical exam per Aya Healthcare standards (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • TB questionnaire required
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immune titers or vaccines with declination if applicable
    • Hepatitis B vaccine series or immune titer or declination
    • Varicella immune titer or vaccines with declination if applicable
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2025)
  • References: Two manager or supervisor references from last 24 months required
  • Employment application with at least 7 years of work history required
  • Radiation badge required prior to start (dosimetry badge or attestation)

  • Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up to start date
  • Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Facility-specific orientation modules required before badge issuance
  • Onsite respirator clearance and fit testing available if not completed prior to start
