Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Melbourne, Florida

Job Description
- Position: PACU RN
- Variable start times available between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM
- On-call schedule:
- Monday-Friday: 11 PM - 7 AM (2-4 calls within a 6-week period)
- Weekends: Call if needed, either 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM, approximately 1 weekend per month
- Float, holiday, and hurricane coverage per hospital policy for travelers
- Must know how to titrate drips
- Expected to rotate to Phase II PACU outpatient discharge as needed
- Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital to take call
- Level II Trauma Center experience required
- Proficiency level: Majority 3 (Proficient) or 4 (Expert) in Neurological and Cardiovascular PACU skills
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Documentation system: SCM
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or a total of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
- Floating required to all four hospitals within the system (home base assigned)
- Block scheduling possible but requires manager approval
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (Level II Trauma Center experience required)
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-timers (first-timers NOT accepted)
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
Licensure
- Florida State or Compact Nursing License required at time of submission
- Pending licenses not accepted
Work Schedule & On-Call Details
- On-call required: 4-6 night calls in a 6-week period
- On-call every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- Call shifts:
- Monday-Friday: 11 PM - 7 AM
- Weekends: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
Additional Requirements
- Must provide 2 professional references from authority figures (managers, supervisors, charge nurses, or directors) within the last year
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 31 - March 31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Scrubs: Any solid color, matching
- Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict mask policy, must be fully shaven)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Required immunizations or titers within 5 years: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption documentation required during flu season
- Background checks including Social Security Trace, Education Verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance prior to start
- Education verification required; certain institutions are not accepted (facility-specific)

- Contracted hours are guaranteed
- Must comply with hospital policies regarding holidays, hurricanes, and floating
- Candidates must be prepared to provide all required documentation and clearances prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with Level II Trauma Center experience who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and floating within a hospital system.
