Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Maryville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend coverage every third weekend
• Weekend shifts as needed and agreed upon

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in Emergency Room or related specialty
• First-time travelers are accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Patient Population

• Neonates
• Infants
• Pediatrics
• Adolescents
• Adults
• Geriatrics

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department care (combined adult and pediatric)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Phlebotomy
• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation
• IV vasopressors administration
• Procedural sedation administration
• Care for patients with CVA, orthopedic trauma, head injury, near drowning
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Isolation precautions

Systems & Equipment

• Medication system: Pyxis
• Documentation system: MediTech
• Communication system: Vocera

Uniform

• Navy blue scrubs required

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID
• Emergency contact form
• Background checks including:

  • County, nationwide, sex offender, and other relevant screenings within 1 year of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
  • Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
  • Illinois Adult Abuse Registry Search (required, can pend at start)
• Licensure verification including:

  • State license primary source verification
  • NURSYS verification for RN
• Pass/fail testing on medication and glucose meter during orientation (two attempts allowed)
• Competency exams with minimum passing scores (typically 80%)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and titers as applicable:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (titer, vaccination, or history)
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccination strongly recommended but not required
• COVID-19 medical and religious exemptions allowed

• 2 professional references within 2 years
• Resume required
• Skills checklist required annually
• 7 years of work history verification (attestations allowed after 3 attempts)
• Application must include 7 years of history
